Kibbutz in Tirat Cvi

If you are planning a trip to Asia, you better avoid Kibbutz and the whole region of Tirat Cvi. Not without a reason the are has been recognised as the hottest place all over the continent of Asia! It is located in a huge depression amounting to over 220 meters below sea level.

Originally, in the place there was an arabic village called Al-Chunzajzir. Unfortunately, during the World War 2, the inhabitants were displaced and a great part of them transported to one of Nazi concentration camps. As you probably know most of them were localised in Europe. But most of the deportees drifted into camps in Asia.

However a few of them were transferred to Auschwitz-Birkenau, which serves as a museum today. Very popular are guided tours to Auschwitz and it’s worth to say how many people from all over the world keep visiting the memorial place. Anyways, coming back to Kibbutz in Tirat Cvi, the highest temperature noted there was 54 degrees Celsius and it was in 1942.

For me not the temperature is the most surprising thing regarding this place but the fact that just in Tirat Cvi the biggest dates plantation in the world is located! And it is despite such a hot and dry climate! Almost 20 thousand date-trees grow up there. Now, a few words about the village history. The Kibbutz was set up in 1937 by jewish immigrants from Germany, Poland and Romania.

That was  a typical agricultural settlement. The first inhabitants didn’t have a choice and had to live in very poor or rather terrifying conditions! Because of surrounding wetlands  the people suffered from jungle fever all year long. Today the Kibbutz is not the most touristic point of the Israel map but many people visit the place just to experience a few hours in the atmospheric conditions that occurs almost nowhere else.
